Do you mean the January window where we made Benrahma's loan a transfer and paid up accordingly, Barnet?

Thanks Stubbo

Probably more in that clip than in 24hrs of Sky's transfer coverage.

BUT WHAT NUMBER IS THAT OILY FREAK RONALDO GOING TO WEAR?

Re: The transfer deadline day thread
We've got a squad full of very good, hard-working, professional and non-disruptive players now. Moyes has turned the first team into a proper David Moyes unit.

But I still think we're one out-and-out striker short.

I'd be looking to bring in a half-decent free agent on a year-long deal, if it's affordable. We all know that Antonio will miss games, and Yarmo and Bowen are not the solution down the middle. Vlasic, maybe. He looks a class act.

fuck me alfs! Any angle to have a pop at the owners eh!

For once they did as promised, step in the right direction and all that, but carry on finding the negative if it floats your boat.

Stubbo,

Thanks for the link. I see Robbie Earle seems to mistake somebody having similar hair to David Luiz for actually being David Luiz!

For the uninitiated, Kral is not like David Luiz. He plays more like a lesser Declan, which is fine by me as we needed cover in CM.

The way they do it is like when your parents banged on about saving your earned pocket money to get the thing they don’t want to spend out on you…..then when you finally save up and get it they bang on about how they gave you the money……

Lots of rumours already flying around that PSG cannot be compliant with FFP. French media bit puzzled by the outlays in this window, although (to my untrained eye) it looks like they have a year or so to offset some costs.

You also have to be a bit careful about some French media when it comes to PSG, because a lot of hacks love Marseille.

Would not be surprised to see PSG fall foul of the rules nobody seems to want to uphold, though.

So where it says

How much did Premier League clubs spend on transfers during the summer window?

You want it changed so it says How much did Premier League clubs spend on transfers during the summer window and something that happened for West Ham in January?

Yeah, of course I do. Given that sydney was saying the net spend "goes against the narrative" being "pushed on here", and a large part of the narrative relates to the club selling a large number of attacking players and not replacing them.

Its really not that difficult to work out. If the club had sold £300m of talent in January and replaced it with £100m in this window, mugs like you would sit there applauding them?

FWIW I'm relatively happy with the signings we made this summer - albeit very late. However, I'm choking at us being 4th in the table (something that the board will point out over and over again) when I'm pretty sure there was a healthy profit in the January window.

OK, fair enough, but whatever we want to call it, if Antonio is out injured or rested, we should do quite well with Vlasic, Benrhama, Bowen and Fornals working together up front. Not so much Fornals, but the other three are all very good at dribbling and trickery that will get us goals. It's a shame Lingard isn't in that mix, because he shoots better than Benrhama and Bowen. We will see about Vlasic, but it looks like he has a blopody good shot on him.

Bottom line, though disappointing we haven't bought some kind of Antonio mark 2, (if that player exists), we can carry on scoring goals, and hopefully won't ship as many. We can't have unlimited spending, and Moyes was right not to have his pants pulled down paying over the odds for a striker when we needed strengthening in so many other areas too.

Moyes will probably consider an out and out striker more of a priority next summer, and would be more up for burning a bigger chunk of the available cash on one.

I watched Sky News this morning while eating my Crunchy Nut Cornflakes. They went to a remote journalist somewhere to report on the window.

Ronaldo has moved to Man Utd and is still in prime health despite being 36.

PSG turned down a €220m bid from Real Madrid for Mbappe even though he's out of contract at end of the season.

Kane never got his proposed £150m move to Man City because they refused to meet Tottenham's asking price.

Nothing else happened apparently...

Re: The transfer deadline day thread
Lily, that's not really a false 9. A false 9 is more usually where the wide players are furthest forward and the 9 ghosts in from deep.

Antonio is basically a target man who runs the channels. Arnautovic did the same, which used to be frustrating as there'd be no support in the box but thankfully that's changed, and those 4 you mentioned plus Vlasic will all be looking to get forward and score.

Lily Hammer 9:20 Wed Sep 1
Re: The transfer deadline day thread
Apparently Vlasic has played CF for Croatia a fair bit and did well.

When you think about it, Antonio often pulls out wide, and crosses to the likes of Bowen, Benrahma, Fornals and Soucek, and we’ve got lots of goals that way, so we as already play the so called false 9 quite a bit.

Our front line will mix it up and pull defenders all over the place.

Not really - surely the net spend should take into account the last transfer window - the one where they sold the main striker and didn't replace him?

Re: The transfer deadline day thread
I'm still scratching my head about the lack of striker, but I've been proved wrong by Moyes before.

Maybe bringing Kral in means that if Antonion is out, he'll experiment with 4-3-3 with the three attacking midfielders cycling positions like they did a bit last season.

Blagg - Yea, even if Moyes likes the false 9 it's still odd that we haven't brought a forward in. What would be the downside of bringing in say Rondon for a season? Makes no sense.

Glad we have kept the likes of Yarm, Diop, Johnson, Fredericks and Arthur as we will need them. Okay, sell them for a good fee if an offer come in, but loaning out would have been stupid.

Moyes has earned the respect, he seems to be able to get the best from his players, they work hard and are tactically sound. I just cannot understand not getting another striker though.

Shame we didn't manage to get Lingard back, but otherwise a decent window. Can't criticise the owners for a change. Good on them backing Moyesy.
